When the weather finally starts to get a chill in the air, many of us become nostalgic for the fall activities we enjoyed so much as children. We might go pick apples, carve our pumpkins, some of us even dressed up for Halloween this year! There are a few parts of the chilly weather, however, that none of us relish and those include rising heating bills and wondering just how much longer that heater can keep heating. Because you often find yourself in need of emergency heater repair right when you’re about to host a big dinner like Thanksgiving, we have come up with a few warning signs for you watch out for now.
First, you need to know the age of your heater. If it’s more than 15 years old, your heater is now a senior citizen and will most likely need to be replaced soon. When you know the age of your heater, you can get around a lot of the upfront cost of replacement by choosing an efficient model that won’t waste energy.
Second, you need to watch your utility bills. If your heating bills are higher than last year at the same time or even the year before that one, a heater installation might have your name right on it!
Finally, listen to your heater! A heater will often tell you if you’ll need a new heater installed soon. With all the pops, creaks, moans, and other noises a dying heater makes, it’s a wonder more of us don’t put them out of their misery.
If you are worried a heater installation is on your horizon, please give our team at J Newton Cohen a call today. We would love to ensure many warm days ahead for you this winter.
